Plumbing issues of any sort can be frustrating, but they are even more exasperating when you don’t understand the source of the problem. A frequently clogged toilet is a common concern for many homeowners. But what’s causing it? The water? Your kids? The toilet itself?

If you’re tired of dealing with a toilet that is always clogged, our team at Excalibur Plumbing is here to help. The following helpful pieces of information can give you the tools you need to prevent the problem and live as a much happier homeowner.

Common Reasons for an Easily Clogged Toilet
  1. You may have a clogged drain line: If the problem is bad enough, then the drain line can eventually become clogged, rendering it unable to do its job. A clogged drain line prevents any water from flowing to the septic tank, creating a serious problem for your toilet. Some drain cleaners, especially those with lye in them, may be able to unclog the drain line. If this doesn’t do the trick, check the washing machine’s drain line.
  2. Hard water deposits could be to blame: Hard water deposits are simply water that has built up over time and can prevent proper functioning in your toilet. A sharp metal object can be used to scrape off the deposits, which are usually found under the rim of your toilet. Follow this up with a cleaning solution and you should be well on your way to a working toilet!
  3. Your toilet may be the low flow: If your home has an older toilet, then it may not have the same level of power that some of the latest toilets have. Flushing too much toilet paper at a time is difficult for older toilets and can lead to frequent clogging.
  4. The trap is stuck: Many homeowners fail to check the trap of their toilet. The trap is the space between your bowl and the drain line. Sometimes things can get stuck there, such as toilet paper or bath toys. By simply using a toilet plunger, you can clear the trap relatively easily.

If none of these solutions cured your toilet, it may be time to call in the experts. Our Austin plumbers have more than 15 years of experience and can treat your home with the respect it deserves. Call Excalibur Plumbing for your free estimate!
