As the dust inside the house, wash the walls, clean the baseboards, clean out the gutters, get a professional chimney cleaning, and have the outside windows cleaned, should they be doing something about their drains too?

- How often your family members are home,
- How long it’s been since you had a professional drain cleaning, AND
- If your plumbing takes a beating during summer break and the holidays.
You see, if only two people live in your five-bedroom home and you both travel a lot for business, your plumbing won’t get as much use as a similar-sized home with a family of seven, who happens to homeschool their children. In the latter example, clearly, the plumbing pipes would be used a lot more frequently.
Drain Cleaning After the Holidays
If you love to entertain a house full of guests, one good time to have drain cleaning is after the holidays. Why? Because the plumbing pipes are under more stress in these situations. If you’re throwing holiday parties and big dinners, the pipes, especially those in the kitchen, are going to see more wear and tear.
If you have kids home from school or college, or if you have family staying from out of town, your bathtubs, showers, and bathroom sinks will see more use as well, which is why it’s wise for people to have a professional drain cleaning after the holidays are over. Things like grease from turkeys and pot roasts, extra soap scum, and hair from guests can accumulate, slowing the flow of waste and water through the pipes.
